Sludge Breaker Chemicals for Hydrocarbon Sludge

Most of the crude oil storage tanks contain bottom settling sediments accumulated over the time which are known as crude oil tank bottom sludge. Continuous generation of bottom tank sludge during the bulk storage of crude oil is an unavoidable phenomenon as it reduces the tank storage capacity and contaminates the sale oil quality. This sludge is viscous and resists to flow. The sludge usually contains a significant amount of heavier ends oil (30-50%), water (30-50%) and sometime with solids (1-5%). During the cleaning processes, all the sludge waste is removed and stored in designated tanks/containers for subsequent treatment and disposal process.

Because the oily sludge contains large amounts of cycloalkanes, benzene series, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and other toxic and harmful substances (from the residue of production chemicals and in-situ bacteria activities), it poses a substantial threat to human health and the surrounding
environment. Therefore, it must be treated to reduce its toxicity. This sludge with substantial amount of associated water has become a critical problem in most oil refineries.

The sludge is continuously generated and disposed of in large quantities. Given the high hydrocarbon content of the oily sludge, the conventional treatment methods such as land farming, landfilling and incineration are time-consuming, ineffective, expensive and may potentially release more unwanted environmental pollutants.

Our solution for sludge treatment is focusing on oil recovery technology, rather than disposal. Every sludge has a unique characteristic and there is rarely one universal sludge breaker works for all types of sludge. We can design a specific sludge breaker to best suit each application. Our sludge breaker solutions are formulated considering:

Speeding up sludge breaking and oil recovery. Complete separation of sludge to recover dry oil (<0.5 BS&W) and clean water (< 30 ppm OiW) in 60 minutes or shorter.
Near 98-100% recovery of hydrocarbon oils, with clean separated water readily for disposal.
Chemical remains active for continuous protection. The active chemical ingredients that end up in the recovered oil phase, will continue to act to ‘drop’ the suspended water to yield dryer oil for sale spec. The chemicals will prevent re-emulsification in the storage tank and ensure the waxy breakout oil remains flowable and pumpable for easy transfer.

Heavy Duty Degreasers for Tanks and Pipes Cleaning

Our degreasers products are formulated in water-based system and is readily biodegradable. The degreaser is concentrated and typically dilution with water (up to 10 times) is recommended during application. These chemicals are generally come with alkaline pH and hence are very effective to wash and clean the oil storage tank and pipes contaminated with sticky and waxy hydrocarbon. It is suitable used as heavy-duty degreaser for machinery too. Soaking treatment and chemical jetting always enhance the cleaning performance.
